Before you go Once you have made your reservation well send you a confirmation along with the Wedding Form. All you need to do is send us the required documents. The new issued birth certificate and others documents should arrival to Expedition tour Ltd. 2 month before the big day.

The priority ordering service must be used to ensure that we receive your documents on time. Please take care not to order too soon, as the date of issue cannot be more than three months before the wedding date.

All original documentation and paperwork must be taken with the wedding couple to produce at the relevant offices. When completing the formalities once in Mauritius.

When you arrive

  • When you arrive, you’ll spend the day settling into your chosen hotel. Enjoy the first day of your honeymoon by relaxing by the pool and sipping a cocktail at sunset.
  • Meet your wedding planner, who will help you plan the perfect day.
  • You will select the venue of your wedding. Your wedding can be held in any of the hotel’s public areas. The gardens near the beach are popular, but the choice is yours! Because it is a cooler time of day, weddings are usually held in the late afternoon. The light is also better for photography, and sunsets. Times are subject to change based on registrar availability and season.

Legalities

Though it is impossible to avoid legal paperwork. We do our best to ensure that you complete all the paperwork quick and without stress.

Meeting point in your reception at 08:30 the day before your wedding. (Except on public holidays/Saturday/Sunday). All required documentation must be brought with you in its original form.

You will have to go to 4 different offices in Port Louis go with your wedding coordinator

  •  Civil Status main office Port Louis – All documents will be double checked and authorized.
  • Attorney at law – all original documents will be checked here and the affidavits will be prepared
  • Supreme High Court of Mauritius. – The couple will swear affidavits at Mauritius’ Supreme Court. It is critical that the couple be well-dressed. – No shorts for men and covered arms for women (no need for a shirt/tie/jacket – smart/casual is fine). The Supreme High Court of Mauritius does not allow children.
  • Civil Status Sub Office. – The Civil Status Sub Office is the final office to visit. For the wedding publication, it is in the district closest to your hotel. The civil status officer will discuss the wedding date and vows with you at this point. Only the Civil Status Officer can confirm the wedding date and time.

You will not be required to visit the Attorney at Law or the Supreme High Court of Mauritius if your birth certificates are re-issued and dated within three months of your wedding date, or if your Affidavit is already completed. You’ll return to the hotel around 13:00 to spend the afternoon relaxing on the beach.

Following the big day

You’re already on honeymoon, so it’s ideal for beating the post-wedding blues! Relax on the beach, get your adrenaline pumping with water sports. Why not go shopping in Port Louis or take a tour of a rum factory?

  • How is the wedding going to be planned?

Once you’ve decided on a date, please let us know. – Because each of our resorts guarantees only one wedding per day. If the day is available, we’ll book everything and confirm it with you. To secure your reservation, we will need a deposit of 10% of the total cost of the wedding package.

  • What document do you need to provide by x in Mauritius?

We need two copies of the following documents from you at least eight weeks before you leave Europe. Weddings in Mauritius are only held from Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays). Please note, we’ll need to plan in advance as we are required to give the Supreme Court at least one month’s notice. We also recommend that you spend at least three days in Mauritius before your wedding date. Citizens of other countries, must submit their documentation to us. Three months before your arrival in Mauritius.

  1. Copies of passports
  2. Copies of birth certificates that have been re-issued and dated within 3 months of your wedding date
  3. Decree absolute (if divorced)
  4. Deed Poll (if name has changed) issued by UK Deed Poll Office
  5. Death Certificate and previous marriage certificate if widowed
  6. Non English documentation must be translated into English and duly stamped.
  7. Citizens of other countries, must submit their documentation to us. Three months before your arrival in Mauritius.
  • Why does my birth certificate need to be reissued?

The Mauritian government has instituted a new policy. Every couple getting marry in Mauritius must have their birth certificates reissued. It must be dated no later than three months before the wedding date.

This eliminates the need to visit the lawyer and the Supreme Court in Mauritius. You must continue to visit the Civil Status Head Office in Port Louis and the Civil Status Sub Office.
