If the North could be summed up to a colour, it would certainly be turquoise emerald. Going along the northern coast of the island, from Pointe aux Piments to Grand Gaube, wherever you look, and this turquoise emerald accompanies you all along your journey. Glittering under the sun’s rays, the northern lagoons are constant invitations for a swim.

It is difficult to stroll down this coast without being captivated by the islands facing it in the distance. Here numerous beaches follow one after the other like Trou aux biches, Mont choisy, Grand Bay, Peyrébere, cap Malheureux, Grand Gaube. Another attraction is the church of Cap Malheureux often visited during this trip. In fact, its red roof awakens your curiosity.
However, as the North coast has seen an increase of tourist over the years, it has gradually lost its cachet. Wild spots have become rare and straight from Pointe aux Cannoniers to Cap Malheureux.

In the distance, the view on the northern islands evokes a cruise in a catamaran, big game fishing, apnea diving. The thought of disembarking on a nearly desert island is an invitation to sail that should definitely be experienced towards the coin de Mire the Flat Island or l’ilot Gabriel. It is in the small, ancient fishermen’s village of Grand Bay which has now become a seaside resort since several years that tourism has developed at a quick pace.

Grand Bay’s attributes have radically changed since works were undertaken to accommodate the town centre. A priced shopping area, grand Bay remains a choice for Prêt-a- porter, handicraft and art galleries. As time went by, Grand Bay witness a fast developing night life and today it is the place regrouping the most famous restaurants, bars and discothèques.
It is in Grand Bay that you will venture to discover several international cuisines. Some of the restaurants are really worth dinning at Fresh fish and seafood is on the menu at some of the divine tables located in the area leading to Trou aux Biches.

The call of the open sea with its depth; it is certainly not a coincidence that the company, Blue safari is situated in the North to offer outings in submarines or under scooters diving to 35 meters of depth.
Some villages are worth to visit, like Goodland. It is famous for its factories of ship models and its clothes market held on Tuesdays and Fridays; Triolet, considered as the longest village of the island, is the home to the biggest temple of Mauritius, The Shivala Maheswarnath, dedicated to Hindu divinities.
Finally, the place not to missed for any reason; the haut lieu of the Mauritian national heritage: the famous Pamplemousses Garden, situated at the heart of the historical village of pamplemouses and not far from L’Aventure du Sucre, a modern museum telling the story of sugar intricately linked to that of Mauritius.
