About the Chamarel

Waterfall This is Mauritius’ tallest waterfall. It drops more than 80 meters into a lush green valley. The view of the waterfall, combined with the powerful sound of the falling water, creates an unforgettable experience.

Exposed volcanic rocks dating back 8-10 million years can be found. Thus representing some of Mauritius’ oldest lava rocks. The waterfall is formed by three distinct water-source streams. This is from the Saint Denis River, which is close to the villages of Cachette, Chamarel, and La Crete.
